Is it safe to hang artwork in the bathroom? It CAN be done.

If your bathroom is your sanctuary, you’ll want to fill it with beautiful things… including artwork. Of course, the worry is humidity. Moisture and steam can seep under a frame causing your mat and more importantly your photograph to mildew. The best bet is to choose artwork printed on archival canvas which, when ordered through our company, will have an aqueous coating. Our canvas prints use only sap-free lumber for kiln-dried stretcher bars that are not likely to crack, warp, or become brittle. It is not recommended that you hang family heirlooms or limited edition artwork in your bathroom.

Framed artwork has a special, elegant look. The best way to keep moisture at bay is to use your exhaust fan and open the windows whenever you can. Always keep the bathroom door open when not in use. Choose metal prints or metal frames rather than elaborate antiques or wood frames. If you decide to frame, be sure to add an acrylic glaze instead of glass, just in case your artwork falls to the floor. Please contact me with questions about any of these methods. I’d be happy to give you a product recommendation.
